Wow, this old thing. I removed the github repo because I was ashamed at the horrible way I handled the input file, LOL. I wouldn't try to send commands too quickly, something may break spectacularly. I'll try to fix it when I have time.

On a more specific note; how does lava on this server work, exactly? I tried many times to place lava sources for a stone generator, but it always vanished. I agree that area protection can lock away choice real estate near spawn away from the public, and I have been very annoyed at this on many servers. For me, the whole point of building on a server is interacting with others, and if I have to walk for ten minutes to get to my plot I feel like I'm out...

I'm pretty sure the client decides on the speed. Maybe the normal fast_move speed could be slowed down so it feels more like sprinting than rocket travel, and enable the current high speed if the player also has the fly priv? I think fast_move is fine for sprinting, and I don't see why most servers have the priv off. It is very fast, but that could be made configurable.

I could not make '/teleport' to work either way (or '/home' for that matter) Did you either set a server admin (the 'name' option in the conf file) or create a special user 'SERVER' with all privs? Why not use LevelDB? EEhmm..my 100MB sqlite3 map took over 30 minutes to migrate to LevelDB. and that * 35.74 gives 1072 minutes or ~18 hours. Does that indicate how fast LevelDB is? Names aren't handled in lua, so they aren't in builtin. There's no way of completely removing them, but you can only show them to nearby players with this setting:
Shut down server, add that to ~/.minetest/minetest.conf, start the server.
