I don't know whether to punch hex or shake his hand. He made it impossible for me to play on the uplink server, but did point out flaws in the system. I do wish he'd simply warned ahead of time and made the vulnerability public so we could fix it rather than just DOSing, but, can't have an omlette ...

After thinking the situation over for some time, I feel as if the proper thing for me to do as the WiFI operator is to apologize for the damage and technical issues as a result of the attack. However, as I am NOT the originator, I do NOT take any moral obligation/responsibility for this attack. Agai...

Recent DoS attacks on Minetest servers
Sadly, there was a series of DoS/flood attacks on Minetest servers. I have found that this was caused by hexafraction, using my public WiFi. This service has since been taken down. While the originating IPs do correspond to the IPs I use(plural as dynamic), I cannot, and will not take responsibility...

Pavel_S created wonderful models for the simple_mobs mod. I am hoping that he can create player models for Minetest to give the game more variety and uniqueness (the current player model looks like it came from Minecraft, has no neck, and has arms that are the same size as the legs.) Rarkenin might...

I used the suggested script ( http://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?pid=53120#p53120 ) to install Minetest on my Debian laptop. The game starts up, and I can create a world, but when I go to play it gets stuck at the connecting to server phase. I was going to get the debug.txt but there is only a...

Stop whining and already go making your fork. And good luck with it. This is the, frankly, sour attitude that causes this friction and incommunication. I don't even know what he is asking about, and such doesn't seem to be contained in this discussion at least. Maybe you should make a clear proposa...

The general idea about this is that we shouldn't need this because MT is an open source project. Maintaining many APIs is a pain, and compiling C++ modules for all supported platforms simply sucks. What disappoints me is how we can't communicate our intent. People with features, people with time an...

Honestly, I'm tired of coming onto the forums/IRC/etc and seeing this argument happening. In my (humble and probably unimportant) opinion, we need a method to dynamically load a set of C++-side mods that can make powerful changes outside the API. These would need to be installed client-side if need ...

This has been suggested before. It will not be a doughnut / torus, it will be as if you have got a piece of paper, and wrapped it around to make a cylinder. Map generation will need to be changed, so that they link together. A better way of doing this would not to teleport the camera, but to make i...
