I'll take the lead: Did you know you can play chess with dirt blocks on Catlandia?

P.S.: I have also acquired a full playset of white chess pieces in a perfectly legitimate salvaging operation.

P.P.S: I donated those to random players and mailboxes. Found a chess piece in the mail? Might have been me.

P.P.P.S: Do not worry, the chess pieces regenerate once the game is restarted. That dirt is permanently lost though.

Yeah, they're brave running that Chess mod in a server. I found quite a few fatal crash events with chess mods and decided against putting it in MeseCraft. That's a fun bug you found!

I did not find it, someone told me about it on an anarchy server.

On Clamity Anarchy Server (which ran MineClone2), I once made a portal that led me to a dark bedrock plains.

The Nether roof! Unfortunately, I was not able to build anywhere, as the ”air” was filled with invisible void nodes.

I found that mining obsidian nodes left air, where I could build some things. However, it was not enough space.

So I used my skills and carefully tore down the portal, to make a small base, where I could grow food and craft.

Then OP proceeds to post a screenshot from Catlandia which is absolutely NOT vanilla Minetest. It is a commercial heavily modified fork of Minetest, known Multicraft. Also the JT2 server is not running on vanilla Minetest either, Wuzzy :P

How do I steal chess pieces?

Consider it a puzzle … like “how did that Nether portal become so messed up?”

It may be more satisfying to figure it out yourself than to be given a solution.

Hint: The chess board you see is actually an 8×8 inventory in disguise.

The MineClone2 crashbutton was probably the most disruptive redstone device I ever built.

In April 2021, cora and me wanted to build a TNT cannon next to the Clamity world border.

The problem was that when we turned the power off, the server would crash immediately.

How the bug got fixed is also cursed (and funny in an absurd way, which is why I am posting it here):


A short time later jordan4ibanez published a YouTube video on how he used the bug to crash Clamity.

I made a patch (commit 7c8cf6f79f9f695ed570f4394615af63c3f071f0) but it was not used immediately.

jordan4ibanez made buttons at the border explode instead (commit 0842a36aa6f4a45a10a3ec1182de).

Then he added my patch on top of it, but not with a correct author (me). I complained about it, of course!

kay27 reverted commits, so I got attribution. IIRC jordan4ibanez apologized and has been friendlier since.


Also, you see the redstone floor in the screenshot? Cora made a redstone platform, despite my warnings.

When it was time to go elsewhere, we planned to blow everything up to get rid of the evidence. However …

… redstone ignites TNT. So when cora placed a bunch of TNT right next to us, we blew up. It was hilarious!

Edit: It was an entirely legitimate salvaging operation. And no Clamity admin saw me doing it anyways!

I have pretty big collection of screenshots shocked me when I played for some time with my mcl mapgen fixes which used mod storage to list number of chunks not generated fully, to avoid placing meaningful schematics there. Obviously, first of all, it's my own fault. But there were no errors in the code. Just freezes and crashes made this storage broken time to time which caused horrible bugs like these.

The first is a lag machine; it pushes books off enchantment tables.

An anomaly in my world: these red eyes in a cave, this is a devtest server where the heck did the eyes come from I don't think I'm alone here.
