[Mod] Horses [whinny]

My edit of the mod "whinny" from OldCoder., descended from KPGmobs and/or LOTT horses.

Image

Main Changes:
New models/textures/animations.
Incremental "throttle" so you don't have to keep forward pressed down when travelling.
Slower speed when crossing water.
Galloping animation when you're going fast, walking when going slower.

Brown and Black horses spawn on default:dirt_with_grass
White horses spawn on default:dirt_with_dry_grass
they are tamed and made rideable by right-clicking them with wheat.

Backwards walking fixed. 4-6-17

cc-0 on the model, and textures I made. (I didn't make the inventory icons) Enjoy!

ATTENTION: this mod is old and I don't really update it, you may want to use AntumMT's updated/edited fork at https://github.com/AntumMT/mod-whinny

I suggest you use the 'sit' animation for the player when on the horse.

Yes, but that would require a custom model. It is easier to use models already included. Of course it would look better if his legs were on the side, but that is up to him to figure out.

Possibly add a 2d texture for mounted horse, which includes the legs at the side?
then add it to the "attach player" portion of the code?

If not possible, this works fine, as sitting would look sort of silly.

just a quick idea, I have not even looked at the code yet : /

For my subgame I have changed wheat to grass, to remove the farming dependencie.

I have two concerns:
1.
I like the tamed horses to wandering arround like the wild ones do.
What do I have to change therefor in init.lua?
2.
Could you add some sounds?

Really like the mod but one question...Why do the horses quit wandering around once you ride them?

So that when you stop riding them you don't have to worry about them running away

LOL Lone_Wolf. Wouldn't be a problem if they are kept in a fenced in area or a barn. Plus the hoses seem to have a habit of following you around. I have capture many horses that way plus they wander around the corral like real horses do. Once ridden then they just stand there.

Well, if you want them to move around I suggest you look into the mobs_redo mod. It has a horse addon

This is a great mod, but it doasent seems like it works with the latest version, the player levitate above the horse.
And also i can ride on them without taming them with a wheat. Can somebody help me?

In 5.0 the player model is 0.5 above before. It has to be set in code. But it's not on Github.

1. Open the horse.lua file with a text editor.
2. Search for the line #267:

Code: Select all

clicker:set_attach(self.object, "", {x=0,y=18,z=0}, {x=0,y=90,z=0})
3. Low the y= 18 value to your desire:

Code: Select all

clicker:set_attach(self.object, "", {x=0,y=8,z=0}, {x=0,y=90,z=0})
4. Save.
