I can not connect to some IRC channels...
I was trying to join #minetest channel on IRC, however i joined something ##overflow one for some reason. When i was trying to join #minetest-dev it wrote: "#minetest-dev Cannot join channel (+r) - you need to be identified with services" . I could join only #minetest-hub. Please, help me, i don`t know why it happens so.

Re: I can not connect to some IRC channels...
Due to a series of spamming attempts, many of the channels on freenode have been restricted to registered users only.
In order to access them, go through the nickname registration process: https://freenode.net/kb/answer/registration

You can write it literally anywhere, even the server info thing.

Re: I can not connect to some IRC channels...
Best thing is to write in in the server connection window/tab so in case anything goes wrong no potentially confidential data will be written to the currently active channel.

Re: I can not connect to some IRC channels...
Since you're simply PMing ChanServ, you can write it in any channel and (provided you typed the command correctly), it will work. But for simplicity's sake, type it in the server info/status page where the message of the day and other connection information comes up:Andrey01 wrote:How to understand anywhere? #minetest-hub is an elitist channel that only grants a few select people the right to talk. You don't have that right. And also i can not send messages on #minetest-hub

Andrey01: You meet the requirements to get voice in hub (hub is for mostly established contributors, including modders, server hosters, and engine contributors).
You'll need to register first, then you can be added to auto-voice. Join the channel after registering and PM an operator if they don't see you

@rubenwardy: Every single member of #minetest-hub must have been manually approved by the leaders first. Without this approval, you're out of luck. So you just proved my point.

#minetest-mod-dev is unofficial and desolate. The official channel for modding is #minetest
I do not know of anyone being rejected from #minetest-hub

The “desolate” part might change in future. I have still not given up hope. :-)#minetest-mod-dev is unofficial and desolate.
That's only half true. #minetest is a general talk channel for all things Minetest, including modding. The official channel for modding is #minetest
What about OldCoder?I do not know of anyone being rejected from #minetest-hub

Re: I can not connect to some IRC channels...
OldCoder has been banned community-wide (forums, GitHub, IRC...)
Re: I can not connect to some IRC channels...
Freenode-wide too in fact, last I heard.
Using people who have been banned by the actual IRC network itself as an attempt at proving -hub is what you say it is, actually proves something quite different indeed.
Andrey01: just to echo what rubenwardy already said, you're very welcome to join us there, as are many others. If you register on freenode, just let one of us know the name so we can add it to the list.

I've tried to add you. The name isn't registered on freenode:

Did you check and verify your email address? You need to run the command emailed to you otherwise the account will lapse after 24 hours.

Re: I can not connect to some IRC channels...
You don't need to actually register on freenode to use it. As long as the name you tried hasn't been registered yet, it will be available for you to use, but it's also available for other people. Registering means you take control of the name and can then stop others using it. Only registered names can be added to auto-voice.
A quick search should give you help with registering if you're not sure how.

It depends on your email service, but if you're using gmail it'll be:Andrey01 wrote:Where is that folder?ChimneySwift wrote:Check your junk/spam folder, it's always been near-instant to send for me.Andrey01 wrote:I did not get any email messages. This is what wonderful.

Otherwise just use the search tool to search for "freenode"
