Problem with user data directory

by mrminer » Post

I am on Linux Mint, using Minetest 5.5.1.
I have tried to install games and mods, putting them in /home/<my name>/.minetest/mods and /home/<my name>/.minetest/games. But I don't see them in Minetest.
I speak C++.

How did you install Minetest? Through apt or flatpak?

You can open the user data dir by clicking the button in the about tab of the main menu.

You could instead use the main menus content installer (Content > "Browse online content") to install stuff without worrying about folders

The share folders are for resources shared among all users, I wouldn't recommend it for installing games and mods there

The user data dir when using flatpak can be found at /home/user/.var/app/net.minetest.Minetest/.minetest/
