These versions are not as as stable as release versions. They may contain incompatibilities, but often don't. You basically have to read the changelogs to find out. Mostly Minetest adds deprecations and new features and tries not to break things, but there are some backwards-incompatible changes like the move from zlib to zstd mapblock compression.
It should go in Game Discussion since it relates only to Minetest Game. Also it hasn't changed recently in Minetest hence not relevant to "Builds".
Basically, historic reasons. There is a convention now (ref), but there wasn't at the beginning. Combined word form was used before the convention was established. So sorry, but it looks like for Minetest Game you'll have to use full lists instead of loops.
Auto-exposure and bloom is already in 5.7. Volumetric lighting on the other hand is still in a branch in x2048's repository - volumetric_light. I don't know of any available builds for that, sorry.
Got it, not merged yet. Also don't worry, I have RTX 3080 (kinda dated with 40xx on the market and 50xx around the corner, but something tells me it's good enough to play Minetest with shaders).
