World on Fire (Spreading Fire)
Suddenly while playing today, I placed some beds and removed them then outside the building the world is catching fire. Sure, forest fire is one thing, but air seems to be burning as well. It looks like same as when you use flint to light a coal block on fire. I've never seen anything like this happen before and do know what to do next. I expect my entire world will eventually be wiped out.

Re: World on Fire
Disable spreading fire in your minetest.conf, if you don't want that.

Re: World on Fire
I think I understand that. My minetest.conf file has "enable_fire = false" but the fire continues to spread.
Re: World on Fire (Spreading Fire)
Are you running Minetest_Game or something different ?

With the recent name change, all old worlds related to 'Minetest' are due to wipeout. What you're experiencing is an armageddon event.

Re: World on Fire (Spreading Fire)
Check that you don't have two entries in your minetest.conf, it'll use the second one. Also I think "disable_fire = true" is recognized as well as "enable_fire = false"

Re: World on Fire (Spreading Fire)
Thanks. Here's my minetest.conf file:
Here's a screenshotscreen_w = 1920
enable_bloom = true
server_announce = false
enable_damage = true
show_advanced = true
creative_mode = false
screen_h = 1051
show_technical_names = true
maintab_LAST = local
menu_last_game = minetest
world_config_selected_mod = 13
mainmenu_last_selected_world = 2
enable_volumetric_lighting = true
fullscreen = true
always_fly_fast = true
window_maximized = true
pitch_move = true
fast_move = false
keymap_drop =
free_move = false
autojump = false
aux1_descends = false
keymap_decrease_viewing_range_min = KEY_MINUS
noclip = true
keymap_pitchmove = KEY_KEY_L
doubletap_jump = false
keymap_cmd_local = KEY_PERIOD
keymap_increase_viewing_range_min = KEY_PLUS
enable_fire = false
bones_position_message = true
I turned off what I could remember of recent mods I added and the ball of fire above the trees cured itself. I'm having some limited success in chopping down the entire forest to reduce the ground spread, but the fire still spreads through the dirt w/grass tiles. One chop and the fire goes away. (Turned off damage before trying that)

Re: World on Fire (Spreading Fire)
Okay. I've put out the fire. My best guess at what happened is either a tree grew over a chimney -- the fire is below grade, but the top of the chimney is ten blocks above the fire -- or a mod I'd recently installed (not saying which since I need to run some tests to be certain) somehow caused the air to ignite. I mention this because once I'd turned off a few mods, the upper portion of the fire cloud went away without me doing anything to it. However, at tree level the fire still raged. I took a peak inside the chimney and there were about three blocks inside the chimney that were burning.
This was all very strange. While I know many people here have logged way more hours than I have, I've still seen nothing like this since I've been playing Luanti (the game formerly known as Minetest).
Before I start a test in a different world, I need to be certain of something.

So, I should need to change "disable_fire = true" or "enable_fire = false" in minetest.conf to "disable_fire = false" or "enable_fire = true" to allow such an inferno, right?
Re: World on Fire (Spreading Fire)
On a side note, one doesn't need to manually edit minetest.conf for this. Go in the settings, content:games, minetest game, and tick the relevant checkboxes. It at least guards against typos, duplicate keys, etc.
My game? It's Minefall.
