[Server] Tunnelers' Abyss

"I think Tunneler's Abyss owners have made it clear that they do not want their server to become a springboard for controversial topics."
Yes, of course, we have noted this fact.
That is why players have to write their opinions here, on the forum, because these owners fortunately do not have authority here to plug up players' mouths.
But let these owners not be surprised when their server eventually contracts an ill fame [redacted], where players can not open their mouths for a critical discussion.
Edit by LMD: Choose your words more carefully. You are free to voice your opinion, but there are still rules; at some point your criticism might also become off-topic for this thread.
----------
"This resulting drama over the pride_flags mod is another reason for why it should never be added to Tunneler's Abyss."
"They simply do not want to add the pride_flags mod for a plethora of reasons, one of which being the celebration of sexual preferences/identities in front of children."
Judging by its screenshots, this module just contains many various flags of a vivid colouring.
So, what is the problem? "It is causing far too much controversy"?
What exactly will hurt players "when logging onto their favorite minetest server"?
Some rainbow stripes? It is funny.
Nyan Cat's tail poses exactly that "terrible" rainbow flag which allegedly must cause a controversy.
Can you remember what you see at once after logging on the spawn of the TA server?
You see a long-long rainbow flag - that is Nyan Cat.
Oh, wait! It is again "the celebration of sexual preferences".
Also some ore and tools on the server have a rainbow colouring.
And nobody has considered this fact to be a problem of the "kid-friendly" status for years.
Do you know that players can choose their clothes playing on the server?
Each player has their own appearance.
There are male and female clothes - trousers, dresses.
There are male and female faces, hairdos.
So, choosing the appearance in the game, any player has to show "the celebration of sexual preferences".
Why does this fact not disturb you? But a rectangle of a rainbow colouring hurts.
----------
"The petz mod is simply a mod that adds a lot of new animals to your server"
Exactly as "pride_flags" is simply a mod that adds a lot of new animals flags to your server.
"The soul goal of the mod is not to "celebrate" impregnating and killing animals"
Ok, the very same description matches "pride_flags" module.
The soul goal of the mod is not to "celebrate" bringing on sexual topics.
So, what is the problem?
"The goal of pride_flags is to celebrate sexual identities and preferences"
It is just your own fantasy, excuse me.
I can invent the very same description for almost every item in the game. Especially for objects having a rainbow colouring.
It depends on the psychology of a person.
Until you revealed all these perverted ideas about "celebrating" something, I never thought of it.
----------
"Whether killing animals in a game is kid-friendly or not is a completely different discussion I won't get into."
That is why I said about hypocrisy.
The game has many "terrible" sides, but only a rectangle of a rainbow colouring disturbs the "kid-friendly" status.
Let us never remember the rest, they prove to be "completely different".

Re: [Server] Tunnelers' Abyss
It is so cute:) Some vain data were being collected for five years:)
But players' labour was being wasted.
For example, I and ProTest excavated a large quarry under the ground at the altitude about -4000.
The quarry had about 500 blocks in length, 100 blocks in height, 20 blocks in width.
We created many horizontal paths along the quarry, illumination, bridges, ladders, signs, glass windows in walls that kept underground lakes; we grew lemon and healing trees over the steep, and the place eventually became very nice for playing and mining.
Now the quarry is destroyed. Only a short beginning exists, the rest poses a solid mass of rock. All our labour is wasted.
Some server "repair" program converted the quarry into its "natural" shape that is a mass of cobble.
And it is not the first case when I see such a snap recovery of the initial map erasing players' labour.
But now we have a cute leaderboard. Thank you very much:)
You know why I do not play on your server anymore, it is clear.
But have you thought why many other players leave the server too?
Do you think ProTest likes to lose such a great quarry after spending a lot of time for playing?
And what can you give such players in return? A leaderboard?
The server seems to be a test range. Where owners just test their own fantasies. Bombarding players with scraps.
You will never attract players or raise the reputation by such funny messages on the forum about a leaderboard:)
You need much greater changes and repairs on the server than the presence of a leaderboard or fighting rainbow flags:)

Re: [Server] Tunnelers' Abyss
The mapcleaner had several issues at the time that I believe you are referring to. If you had informed me at the time, we could have immediately restored it from a few fairly complete saves that we had. This is how we repaired Josselin's train lines when they were accidentally destroyed by (probably) the same mapcleaner bug, and I thank mpx42 for his help in the eventual restoration of those. We also restored a *lot* of other things around the server, with mostly me doing the work with other contributors, from map saves or just by hand in certain cases where it was easier to do so. I don't understand what you gained by staying quiet about it other than for holding a grudge. Now, I suspect that even if I had the coordinates, I could do almost nothing, as the saves we had back then, we have fewer of now. That's not to say we do not take backups - thanks to our new developer alior, we now take backups every 5 days, which is a tremendous help and takes a lot of pressure off us. (If you are reading this, THANK YOU alior!)pups wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 06:25For example, I and ProTest excavated a large quarry under the ground at the altitude about -4000.

Our dedication as a staff team will be to the players that are with us and are a part of us. If I can get in touch with ProTest, I'll look more into this situation and see if we can do anything to help him.

NassimFr, the image has not been applied to your message.
I suspect that such strange things happen because of too large a size of an image being applied.
I recommend using some image-storage web-sites. I usually use "imgur_com" web-site.
First, you load an image on a storage site. And then you just write the web-link of that image into your message on the forum.
If your image is too large (say several MegaBytes), I strongly recommend creating a subsidiary small-size image (about 800x600 pixels, preferring JPEG to PNG) in order to show it in the message as a fast preview.
And when a reader clicks on this subsidiary image, the original full-size image opens up.
You can create such a small image by a program like "GIMP".
So, if you have two images, a small-size preview image and its full-size original, the web-links in your message will look like the following:
Where "ra0iDLy" is the full size image. And "WFB5YTK" is a small size image in order to be loaded first.
And the short pattern is:

Re: [Server] Tunnelers' Abyss
By the way, the image used to work, I saw it when the post was first made. But it stopped working, because it was on a Discord URL and either it got deleted by the uploader there or Discord, who hate people using their file uploads as a CDN outside the platform. Discord file links have proven to be less durable than ImageShack (this goes back a decade or more)...

Hi, a bit off topic, maybe, but I just want to ask if an administrator might add my old re-formatted minecraft skin (from 12 years ago) to Tunneller's Abyss.

Absolutely! I'll get that worked up for you. Server has been unnaturally stable lately, so it may take a few days to show in-game. :)flowingpoint wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 10:37Hi, a bit off topic, maybe, but I just want to ask if an administrator might add my old re-formatted minecraft skin (from 12 years ago) to Tunneller's Abyss.

Re: [Server] Tunnelers' Abyss
PSA: The largest auction in Tunnelers' Abyss history is now open for bidders! We have auctioned off all stolen goods of a previous player's estate (some are known to be legitimate which will stay, but these are minimal) through his main account, starting today. This means that the auctions will end Saturday, November 23. Over 100 lots are being auctioned, with just about every material imaginable.

LOL Joss!!
Unrelated: Tunnelers' Abyss now has it's first 'boss' - a white whale (referencing the famous white whale, Moby Dick) with insane abilities. At the last attempt, 5 players tried to take it down but were unsuccessful.

Re: [Server] Tunnelers' Abyss
DRAGONZ's Spleef Arena, created over 5 years ago, has been given new life again by turning it into the server's first official mini-game! To play, type /spleef, which puts you into the Spleef queue. At least two players must join the queue before a game can be scheduled. Our biggest game today was with 8 players! In the case of a stalemate, a draw will be declared after a period of time.

Re: [Server] Tunnelers' Abyss
Since early November, we've had a new mod created by our newest developer Andrii -- SuperQuest! The mod allows players to create interactive quests and challenges in an extremely customizable way. Today, the new SuperQuest Hub was released, also built by Andrii, which will allow players to easily access quests and create quests for other players to solve, right from Spawn! To make your own SuperQuest challenge, just place a Quest Machine, set a network name, add flags to the same network, and create your new experience for players to enjoy. You can contact a moderator, admin, or Andrii, regarding putting your new quest in the SuperQuest Hub.
