It's actually not though. It's just a PNG with a .JPG extension. We talked about this, you can't just rename the extension and make it a different kind of file. You need to re-encode it with another program.

We've established you don't need to use the override. What you do need to do though, is open your files in GIMP, Paint.NET, Photoshop and so on - any program that can open PNG and save as JPEG - and you need to re-save your files as JPEG format.

2 Things:
When I'm far away textures like grass start to look really weird..
and
I made it for Exile, it looks good, if you want to see it I can send you.
I'm still new so sorry for mistakes ;-;

With high-resolution packs like this one, you probably want to turn mipmapping on to avoid the jagged effect of a lot of pixels in the distance, in case you haven't done that.

Yes indeed I did not specify it but mipmapping is strongly recommended for these texture packs for better rendering.

Update - New version of Luanti Realistic Texture Pack
  • Switched from 1024px to 512px resolution,
  • All textures re-optimized → ~60% less storage space,
  • Improved some existing block textures,
  • Added new blocks,
  • Better overall performance,
  • Still based on real photos and open source images,
Let me know if you find issues or have suggestions.
(PS-I changed the name, the mod will reappear soon on ContentDB)
