Thanks to the dedicated work of a few people we have been able to port the dynamic shadow shaders to Open GL ES, which means that you can now use them on Android!
How do I test?
Download and install the APK from here (24MB).
Go to Settings → Effects → Enable dynamic shadows.
If this option is unavailable make sure that your device supports at least Open GL ES 3.2. Check the renderer information in the About tab.
Finally note that the APK will install as a separate app from regular Luanti. Please don't use it for serious playing as there is no way to export the data.
How can I help?
If you encounter any bugs, crashes or errors please comment here. Please also share your debug.txt.
We're also interested in how well the dynamic shadows perform on the default "Low" preset.
You can give bloom, volumetric lighting and reflections a try too.
I get much more FPS with this build, how come?
If so that's great!
Compared to 5.14.0, this test build also includes a big milestone in modernizing the map renderer, which should lead to a generally smoother experience for everyone.

APK won't work if the normal Luanti app is installed. I get "App was not installed". Discussion on IRC.

Re: Testing needed: Dynamic shadows are now supported on Android
After removing the Luanti install (there were no worlds or mods to lose) from my Android 6 smartphone I could install this test application successfully. It seems that GL_EXT_color_buffer_float is indeed not supported on this (OpenGL ES 3.1 device, thus the corresponding check in Luanti works correctly.
Hence, I cannot provide any dynamic shadows test results for this device.

Look, I programmed a bug for you. >> Mod Search Engine << - Mods by Krock - DuckDuckGo mod search bang: !mtmod <keyword here>
