merged blocks following set path

by Square70 » Post

Hi,

it would be nice to be able to glue some blocks in such a way that Luanti sees them as a single block and that these could move along a line set by the player in the world: let's imagine a train built with blocks that can move along a line set, which is 2, 3 nodes under the ground: above this, you could build tracks: and the train moves following the path. If this train were given the opportunity to stop and start again it would be beautiful. I have identified 3 mods that if merged could help:

the line track:
viewtopic.php?t=32021

the "glue" of the blocks:
viewtopic.php?t=8059

the command block:
viewtopic.php?t=15078
or
viewtopic.php?t=628

the example in Mineclonia but VoxeLibre is similar:

what do you think, is it stupid? Or can'T it be done? You tell me

bye

So what you're saying is that you basically want the create mod but in minetest

Unfortunately, its not really feasible. You *could* make something that kind of works like that, but the lag would be miserable and weirdness is guaranteed. You could make it as an array of node entities that move together. But collision boxes wouldn't rotate when moving horizontally. Possibly meaning you can fall through the floor

This is where the mythical concept of voxel area entities comes from. A planned feature for luanti that does just this. But high key, we're not getting that in a million years

Thanks, I waited a long time before replying because I was hoping to see some different perspective, but unfortunately it didn't happen. Hoping it can be done someday, I can't help but wait. I thank the developers of this engine again, because it's truly beautiful. Thanks again for your feedback...
