Making Monsters not dissapear

by digitalrock42 » Post

I am playing the minetest game.. I don't know what its called but its like the original and you build worlds in it. I have various monsters in the game like spiders and wasps. What file do I edit to make them not disappear and last longer? If I go to sleep they are gone. Also what line of the file do I edit?

I don't believe it allows you to remove mobs via your world file. They are encrypted into the game, I'm afraid.

*Also, the correct word is "disappear" ; )

This doesn't sound like Minetest Game but more like Minefall, or are you maybe playing with mods like Ethereal NG?

Now to the reason your monsters get deleted: they are not "statically saved". This saves the game the effort of saving unimportant mobs, most of which are temporary, but obviously is it noticeable. There is no easy way to change this in a mod that doesn't support it but sometimes there are options. For Mobs Redo, you can toggle "Remove far-away mobs". Mobs Redo also has a "Protection Rune" item that lets you save a specific mob.

Let me know if this is the mod you're using and this setting helped

The mobs are defined inside Lua code in a game or mod. Encrypted is definitely the wrong word to use here. Hardcoded is closer. But some games have peaceful options.

Blockhead is correct, unticking that box will have mobs stick around until they despawn via timer instead of unload with map chunks... Also note that certain monsters hate light so they will spawn at night and die in daytime.
