Tick Lag Selection Bug (Affects ALL Luanti games)

by ArceusI » Post

Did you guys even check the Furnaces in the MineTest game when going 5.17.0? When I select an item, it wants to keep selecting it, this is unintended behavior.

Though, I think other aspects could be affected, probably because of new lag issues that 5.17.0 introduced. At least it isn't graphical, so there's no graphical texture gore anymore. But this bug affects the Gameplay of all Luanti games, which is quite severe. It may be worse on Android devices, where the RAM maximums are lower, though very powerful devices, like Steam Machines, are likely immune.

(Update: This also affects MineClonia, and it happens during ticks, so possibly it's linked to the ticking of the game clock, and as such the title was modified to accommodate this update, making this glitch very severe)

Well, when I cook something, it just keeps wanting to highlight something, which is fucking weird. Even the Item Repair mod is affected by this. It gets really annoying, really quick.

I literally just tested everything related to furnace use, and had zero issues.
Have you tested the furnace in a complete vanilla setting?
Could it be that another mod is causing the issues?
Could it be your hardware having issues?
You're not providing any information, just completely vague gripes. No one can help you this way. Help us - help you.

I never bothered to use AZ Screen Recorder, though I'll do that quickly to make a video, but I have to remember the size limit of uploaded files, correct?

..you would upload the video to youtube or something similar, there are several similar video hosting platforms bittube, etc.. and then post a link to the video here.
I still think the first thing you should do is create a new world, no mods, and then see if the furnace behaves properly.

Oh, well, I know of Harmony, because it also supports video files, my original bug showing video is 6 MB, and even if compressed it would be 3 MB, still above the 1 MB limit, but well within Harmony's limitations.

The phpBB instance only supports some formats, and videos are not among them. 1 MB is also a really small amount of video unless you kill the quality (and you kind of need enough quality or we won't be able to make it out anyway). If YouTube is too proprietary and big-tech for you, use a PeerTube instance, Odysee or something.

Well, I can compress a video down significantly. That's no problem, but I did check the game without any mods and the glitch still occurs. This is in Luanti itself.

Just tested MineClonia, it also happens there too, so it's absolutely a problem with Luanti itself.
