Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute (Countdown to 2026)

We party rocked right into 2026!
Thanks to everyone for making our ninth-annual NYE party one of the most exciting and memorable to date. Perhaps it's no surprise that JT2 has been hosting the longest-running new years celebrations in Minetest. Y'all turned up and then some!
As the countdown began, players gathered at spawn to stock up on party supplies and mingle with friends.

At the stroke of midnight we ushered in the new year with a massive balloon drop and streams of confetti!

Legend has it that our pyrotechnics show this year was so brilliant that even Jesus ascended into heaven!

What better way to commemorate the occasion than with a slideshow featuring the past year's happenings.

Players packed the dancefloor at Club Nemo to kick off 2026 with an nonstop, upbeat mix of party anthems.

Party horns and confetti cannons were at full blast for the next countdown with no shortage of noisemaking!

After the festivities concluded, several players convened for a group photo at spawn. Cheers!

I can't wait to see what's in store for 2026 on JT2, so let's make it awesome. Here's wishing you all the best for the new year!

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute
Congratulations to our Top Players of 2025!
Due to the extended downtime of the server last year, I've awarded giftboxes to all players that have spent over 100 hours in-game (instead of the traditional 200 hours). Your names will also be listed on a new leaderboard at spawn.

Once again I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for your outstanding dedication to the game. It's talented and devoted players like yourselves that make JT2 a one-of-a-kind community!
PS. There are still unclaimed giftboxes from previous years at the plaza on Church Street. Eventually these will be relocated to storage at the Town Center Mall.

A Warm and Cozy Christmas
Christmas is a time to celebrate friendship, goodwill, and of course to share in the spirit of giving. And Santa Claus certainly didn't disappoint -- offloading her bag of stocking-stuffers for all the good little boys and girls on JT2.

There was no shortage of merry-making on Christmas morning, as everyone convened for snowball fights and other antics.

Spanish players showcased their new Gingerbread House and Christmas Tree, adding a festive atmosphere to the holiday.

Three lucky winners walked away with a hefty bounty during our annual Christmas raffle, including an ultra rare Lag Block!

Everybody was excited to find presents beneath the Christmas tree. Even Nemo got a surprise visit from Santa this year!

Countless JT2 veterans made a return appearance within our first week back online. Talk about a Christmas comeback!

I'm grateful that so many regulars and newcomers could join us in time for the holidays. I've missed seeing all of you these past several months, and I couldn't think of a better way of spending Christmas than with our amazing community on JT2!

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

Our postponed 9th anniversary celebration takes place on Sunday, January 25! Join us as we stroll down memory lane, revisiting the long forgotten lore of JT2. It's sure to evoke plenty of nostalgia for our veteran players.
To commemmorate the occasion, guardians will have an opportunity to once again help construct a time capsule. So get ready to start brainstorming a design, since it will remain as a permanent reminder of the year 2025!
Here is a snapshot of the completed time capsule from our previous throwback event.

I will also be handing out the next edition of the JT2 Memorial Stone. And of course, veteran players will receive an anniversary trophy for their longstanding dedication to the game!

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute (9th Anniversary Celebration)
We're about to go retro on JT2!
Our flashback event officially kicks off at 9:00am Central tomorrow and lasts a full 24 hours! Dust off those floral pants and top hats my friends, as we turn back time to the ye olde days of Just Test Tribute!
Check out some of the random banter with maikerumine during the very beginning of the server. Talk about a blast from the past!

For those who don't know, maikerumine had several alt accounts which he used for recording YouTube let's play videos, his two most well-known being Joe (as seen in the chatlog above) and Tupelov.

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

Just a friendly reminder to please claim all remaining giftboxes and stockings in Tring Square by February 15, otherwise they will be moved into the new storage space at spawntown mall.
In related news, the basement of spawntown mall has undergone a major renovation. It now serves as a centralized storehouse for all unclaimed property with multiple rooms for giftboxes, trophies, chests, and stockings. Additional flexible storerooms are also provided for mall tenants. If you need help retrieving your items from the locked chests, please contact Nemo for assistance.

My original Lost and Found depot on Main Street has already been cleared to make way for future development. Any unclaimed property at that location has been transfered to the new storage space.
Of course, Tring Square and Church Street Plaza will continue to showcase the latest prizes and awards. But if trophies or giftboxes are left unclaimed for more than a month, they will likewise be relocated to spawntown mall.

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute
Winners of the 2025 Easter Egg Hunt!
A much belated congratulations to raenvmaj, erstazi, Luciano_FF, and Arisha_L. Each of you has been awarded a trophy for winning last year's Easter Egg Hunt. Kudos for being the top egg-finders on JT2!

Here's a map depicting all of the hidden egg locations around spawntown. How many eggs were you able to find?

Tracking down Easter eggs requires a great deal of patience, cunning, and skill. While some players sought to collect the most eggs, others were in it purely for the challenge! Of course, with the bunny population in full swing, everyone had ample opportunity to load up on Easter treats throughout the week.

The most elusive egg of all was discovered inside Wuzzy's oranges and apples shop of all places!

The best hiding spot was right in plain sight! Who would think to check rnd's hole for an Easter egg?

Easter eggs aren't always on the ground. This one was flying high in the sky and still nobody saw it!

Teamwork really paid off during the final hours, as it became a race to locate the the top-secret egg.

Friendly reminder: If you want to display an Easter Egg, be sure to use an item portrait, pedestal, or showcase. Avoid placing them directly as a node, otherwise they may be stolen!

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

Great news partygoers! We now have a request sheet, located next to do the DJ booth at Club Nemo.
Feel free submit song and artist requests, or other messages (such as birthday announcements) using the new /request command. They will appear immediately on the request sheet.
In the case of YouTube links, the video will be queued for download behind the scenes. Best of all, the request sheet will also update to reflect the video title in place of the URL. All of this happens automatically, with no additional user-interaction required :)

With this new functionality in place, it should be much easier to keep track of your requests during our weekly Block Party!

Cheers to everybody who celebrated Valentine's Day with us this past weekend! We had over 25 entries in the raffle (including some alt accounts, no doubt :P) Congratulations to our three lucky winners!
- lupe_2025 won a Lag Block
- Xx_Miguel777_xX won a Meat Block

This was our biggest Valentine's party to date! Here are some random snapshots taken throughout the evening.

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

Automated chat translations have arrived!
I just finished work on my Rosetta Translator mod, so JT2 is now a fully multilingual server! You can set your native language using the new /lang command. Three language models are currently available: English (en), Spanish (es), and Russian (ru).
For example, /lang en will translate your messages to and from English. Other players will of course see messages translated into their native language respectively. In the case of players that have the same native language, no translation is performed. You can identify translated messages by the language code in brackets.
You can also type /lang without a parameter to bring up the settings panel which shows a list of online players who have automatic chat translations enabled.

For situations where you need to send a message to all players in a given language, I've provided the /tr command:

I've also implemented a caching mechanism so that frequent messages like "hello!" or "how are you?" can be processed instantly, thus avoiding the overhead of continual re-translations. The Rosetta Translator mod should work seamlessly with chat2, chat history, chat aliases and all other chat-related features on JT2, but if you notice any bugs please drop me a note!
In other chat-related news, I've addressed a couple longstanding issues:
- Shout messages are colored yellow in chat2 instead of brown
- Chat aliases properly expand player names with underscores

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

Cheers to everyone who joined us last month for the 9th anniversary of Just Test Tribute!
Once again we jumped into the timewarp back to 2016 for a retro reunion. Everybody was eager and excited to explore the ancient world of JT2 -- back in the day before modern machinery. Heck, dinosaurs hadn't even been invented yet!
Guardian players received the latest edition of the JT2 Memorial Stone to commemorate the occasion. And of course trophies were awarded to our many longstanding veterans -- some who have been playing continuously on JT2 for nearly a full decade. Now that is some serious commitment to the game!
However, it wouldn't be a true anniversary celebration if not for our group photo at spawn, followed by a Monster Mash and Pastry Explosion. Just because it's the stone-age, doesn't mean we don't know how to party hard xD
Even though the event had to be postponed until January 25, there was nor shortage of excitement to be had with countless familiar faces making a return appearance. Kudos to everyone for 9 years of amazing memories. I wouldn't trade that for anything!

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

Great news everyone! The leaderboards at spawn are now updated automatically every Sunday via cronjob. I've made significant improvements and optimizations to the script for scanning the map and compiling the stats. It's far more efficient than the original method that I was using a couple years ago.
Although I'm no longer tallying expired bones, all of the other leaderboards are still available:
- Top 10 Players with Protectors
- Top 8 Items Contained in Chests
- Top 8 Items Contained in Locked Chests
- Top 8 Items Contained in Bones
- Top 8 items Contained in Mailboxes

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

I recently had a chance to check out Kawaii World, since this seems to be the app of choice for players on Android. Aside from the 2-3 fps at spawn (which I suspect has more to do with my smartphone), I was quite surprised by how playable the game was otherwise.
Certain aspects of the UX are admittely less than intuitive (like closing formspecs and sprinting, which I was struggling to figure out). I also noticed that the intro music doesn't always stop after joining the game. Thankfully, the HUD is rendered correctly and most formspecs appear to function as intended.

Of course, I wasn't able to test every aspect of game-play. But my goal is to ensure that mobile players can enjoy JT2 to its fullest potential. So if you notice any other oddities of Kawaii World, please bring them to my attention.

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute
Kawaii World is a good option for playing on servers with older versions of the game, although in my experience the game chat doesn't work well and doesn't display information about signs or chests. Athar Craft 2021 has a lot of ads, which is a downside compared to Kawaii World, but it's also good to use some versions of Multicraft.sorcerykid wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2026 20:54

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

That's all folks!
The time has finally come to shutdown the Just Test Tribute server. It's been a great run, but all good things must come to an end!
Be sure to save your builds because the server will go offline on April 1, 2026. Here is the full announcement:
Spoiler

April Fools Day is right around the corner! And you know what that means -- practical jokes, clever gags, and yes the surprise return of the the JT2 @test@ server!
For those who don't know, JT2 @test@ was a test-bed for new features and bug fixes. Although originally intended as a test server, and informally refered to as the "new world" or "second server", it evolved into its own community with a distinct identity and even a cult-following. Perhaps it's no surprise why so many players have long been pining for its eventual return!
Remember this is one-day only event. So grab those whoopee cushions and prepare to get PrAnKEd!
