My idea is to make farming much more challenging and interesting. This mod is an experiment in how to do that. For now it adds pests that devour your crops far more often than they normally do. Thanks to Liil for the locust and rat mobs, DuckGo for the crow mob. This mod is compatible with the default farming, farming redo, crops mod, and x_farming mods. I intend to add support for more farming mods. I have added rat-traps & crows fly away from the scarecrow in x_farming. I'm looking for your thoughts. What should I add to defeat locusts ?
You can configure how often the pests spawn, how likely they are to spawn, and how often they eat your crops by clicking on Settings>All Settings>Content:Mods>hardcore_farming and changing the values there.

you could add to the standard cows, sheep, rabbits so they eat crops as well - in the case of rabbits more crops, I guess they wouldnt be affected by the scarcrow but would make fencing crops off from roving animals more important :).
Don't suppose theres a goat model anywhere they will eat anything, talk about a pest when in the wrong place :)

Ah yes, then you can myxoma virus and we can deploy that to control rabbit numbers like they did in Australia... (they're still here >.<)

Crows ain't that weak or dumb, and are not pests either - not more than pigeons or seagulls as crop fields "predators", from what I can see.

Makes sense. The crows now run away from x_farming:scarecrows, and the rats get trapped in rat_traps that you can craft. I've got nothing for locusts.

Re: HardCore Farming - (serious pests)
Downunder the only locusts controls we have are chemicals, lizards and birds pick some off but normally they are in plague proportions and the birds and lizards get full way to fast.
There are light traps but they tend to be for monitoring but that might work in game context bit like a rat trap, so long as players can ignore the fact the light trap works during day time as well...magic light trap maybe...or in-game locusts are attracted to mese...mese light trap?
