Trying to start development with Windows + Docker (or vcpkg)

by mark-wiemer » Post

Hi, I've been curious about Luanti for a while and cloned the git repo for the first time just now. I've also installed docker desktop and I was able to build the image and start it following the guide: (https://github.com/minetest/minetest/bl ... /docker.md)

However... now what? I installed MTG and provided the path to MTG thinking that's what this image wanted, but nothing seems to be happening. I used Docker back in 2019 for an internship and things don't seem to have changed much, but I thought some other process would kickoff when I started the image :(

I'll also note that I'm blocked on vcpkg with the error "C compiler cannot create executables"

The compiler found was C:/Program Files/Microsoft Visual Studio/2022/Community/VC/Tools/MSVC/14.41.34120/bin/Hostx64/x64/cl.exe

Thanks in advance, I'll continue reading the FAQs and docs trying to get started.

Ref https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/15302 (vcpkg fails with "C compiler cannot create executables")
