[Hosting] Luanti/minetest server hosting (with web-interface)

Hi everyone

A while back i teased in another forum post that i'm working on a Luanti/minetest hosting platform.
Since then there has been some progress and also a few people that tested the platform and reported features and bugs.
The goal is to provide stable, production-ready hosting with reasonable pricing.

The result is available here: https://hosting.luanti.ch

The platform is now in a very stable condition with a plethora of features:
  • Server provisioning with just a few clicks
  • Allow multiple luanti/minetest engines on a single server
  • IPv6 support out of the box
  • Secured with HTTPS/TLS by design
  • DDoS protection
  • Free *.hosting.luanti.ch domain included or bring your own
  • Server management web-interface (mtui)
  • Mod management via contentdb or git in the web-interface
  • SkinDB integration
  • Easy backup and restore
  • Execute chat-commands or inject lua-code through the web-interface
  • mapserver and chatbridge support
  • All the code is open-sourced: https://github.com/luanti-hosting / https://github.com/minetest-go
Links: Let me know if you have questions, bugs or feature requests :)

EDIT: the coupon is used up

Hi!

To use with Mineclonia, could you please let me know the maximum number of players each server (medium1, large1, large2 or others) can support while remaining stable and lag-free?

Thank you!

Hey BuckarooBanzay/i.

nice to see that another minetest hoster has appeared, even if your server doesn't have a free tier to choose from ... but thats where i come in ...

I also host servers myself... but for free and for forum members only by now.

I've been looking for a "web interface" for a while now to manage things more professionally.
Can you give me a quick rundown on how to install this on a bare Debian server?

Don't worry, I don't want to compete with you, I'd just like to cover the "free tier"... so something like less than 1 CPU and less than 1GB RAM xD

another question: since you're working with Docker, are the resources exclusive? ... To put it another way: if a user gets 1GB, does he ALWAYS use 1GB on the host server, or only UP TO (i.e., as much as the Minetest instance needs)?

also I just want to test the whole thing first to see if I can get it running at all.

btw ... here you are called BuckarooBanzay but on discord you are called BuckarooBanzai ... so what is the right one ? "y" or "i" ?

how often are codes released ?

like is it a "check me discord server weekly" thing ?
or a more like a one-time thingy ?

NOTICE: there was an issue yesterday with creating a certain server-type (SMALL1)
The issue has been solved and should not happen again (commit: https://github.com/luanti-hosting/mt-ho ... 1054e01214).
The problem was that hetzner deprecated the server-type (cx22) on their side and there was no check on the luanti-hosting side that checked for that.

Sorry for the inconvinience (especially to the person that tried it 10 times without luck :)
