Luanti chat client

by MatyasP » Post

Hello,

my new idea (I know, I have so many ideas...) is Luanti chat client. What? And why?
Proposed "Luanti chat client" - LuantiCC - should be shorted software of Luanti, made only for chat on servers. You shoud to can use in chat all with all commands as in normal game but without any not-in-chat interactions (move, interact, see nodes...).
Why? For chatting (too from old PC or mobile) with people on Luanti server but with smaller data loading and with shorter loading time. On much of servers, media contains hundreds of MB and loading of the server is long... for playing is it acceptable but for chat (especially if you want to chat only for some minutes from public transport vehicle) it isn't good.

You can install beerchat and use matterbridge to connect in-game chat to IRC or Matrix. We do it on our Exile servers, works nicely.

I was hoping this would be doable with a web UI like Pandorabox's, but that seems to specifically forbid using /say.

Thats sounds cool! My alternative idea is:
Add to Luanti to server join checkbox "join only to chat".

Headless server, headless client, headless user, headless developer? ;-)

Just a joke, the idea of a headless client is kind of funny, although they are not uncommon (bots). Also, as a developer "somewhere else", when I receive feature requests, sometimes it feels like the users are "headless" (stupid request) or I am "headless" (good request I didn't think about).
