After playing luanti 5.11.0 with mineclone2 0.88.1 release = 29214 a bit back.
I figured I'd try the latest: luanti 5.15.2 with voxelibre 0.91.2 release = 34397
Horrors: now there is no blue ice, no village bell !
villagers don't seem to take occupations. Can't stop or mute music.
what is this stupid octuple compressed cobblestone
A whole bunch of useless nonsense has been added, while useful things broken or removed.
Not fun at all. Very disappointed.
Came from mineclone2, am now disappointed

Re: disappointed
After coming from Mineclone2, you need to understand that that name is now historic, and the successors are now split into Voxelibre and Mineclonia. If you want an original game, Voxelibre is now that. If you want the 99% accurate Minecraft clone, go for Mineclonia.
I know you were probably happy with your Mineclone2 game is it was, but it may be less shocking to you next time if you follow the developments in either project. Not having a newer engine version locks you out of installing newer versions of these games, since they take advantage of new engine features. If you install via the in-game Content tab, you will see when an update is available. I think both projects post updates to the forums as well as other places (on top of visiting the ContentDB website to read update notes).

I understand. I dislike drift in a project too. If you can handle it, keep using your old version of Luanti with the target version of mineclone2. Hopefully your target operating system will let you keep using that version of Luanti. And ContentDB will keep old versions of projects around for you, I know.
As Blockhead said, the Minecraft fans will appreciate Mineclonia. As I understand it, mineclone2 was trying to emulate Minecraft so Mineclonia is definitely the right choice there.
The VoxeLibre team has their own vision, which is starting to diverge. They probably felt they were free to do so, because Mineclonia exists. It's always nice when somebody is keeping the "faithful" route, so others are free to grow and experiment.

Don't forget that MineClonia DX is still in its Concept stage, so add that as a possible 3rd option for that middle ground.Blockhead wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2026 11:10After coming from Mineclone2, you need to understand that that name is now historic, and the successors are now split into Voxelibre and Mineclonia. Mineclonia has blue ice and has fixed all of these issues. Moreover, we have rewritten our mobs and village generators from a clean slate.krbolson wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2026 10:21After playing luanti 5.11.0 with mineclone2 0.88.1 release = 29214 a bit back.
