[Mod] Nyancat's heaven (reworked) [nyanland]

The Nyancat's heaven adds a biome at the height of around y=30688 (configurable with the nyanland.height setting) with a ground made out of glowing cloudstone (among other nodes) and nyancats in the sky which sometimes move and if a player punches the head of a moving nyan cat, it drops mese.
There are also meow sounds.
In the underground, the nyancats are still rare with surprisingly high discrepancy.

To get up to the nyanland, the player can either build and use a special portal (see below) or, if he/she has sufficient permissions, teleport there. To get back back to the surface, the player should have a way to teleport, e.g. by dying or with the /spawn command.

Portal build instructions

Ingredients:
  • default:sand
  • 12 default:torch
  • 10 default:mese
  • 4 default:water_source (or buckets of water)
  • 1 default:stick
Build instructions:

  1. Find a flat area on a beach with a lot of sand
  2. Place two mese blocks on top of each other somewhere on the beach
  3. Place a ring of 8 sand nodes around the lower mese block
  4. On top of each of the 4 corners of the sand ring, place a sand node and a torch on top of it
  5. Place a circular ring of 16 sand nodes around the ring of 8 sand nodes such that there is a gap of 12 nodes (3 in each direction) between this ring and the ring of 8 sand nodes
  6. For each previously-mentioned gaps of 3 nodes:
    1. Dig 2 nodes deep in the 2 outer positions and place mese in the lower part of both holes
    2. Put water on top of the middle node of the gap
  7. At each corner of the circular ring of 16 sand nodes, place a torch at one node further away diagonally and a torch at 2 nodes further away diagonally. These torches should be placed at the same height as the circular ring of 16 sand nodes, and thus also the ring of 8 sand nodes.
Usage instructions:
  1. Stand on top of the mese block in the middle of the portal
  2. Punch the mese block with a stick. Smoke should appear and a sound should play and after a little bit of time the teleportation should happen. If the sound and/or smoke is missing, the portal is not built correctly.

To capture the mod best, Hybrid Dog, try to avoid using filters on the screenshots.

Nyanland is a classic, so I am glad that you revived it.

Good idea, but if you use filters, please don't use ones that obscure the screenshots. It's impossible to see anything in the screenshot contained withing the spoiler.

About the torches: soon, there may be more than just one "kind" of torch, so why not include "group:torch" as an accepted "torch" for the portal? (ex. glowcrystal torches, from my mod, would be in group:torch, and other torches from other mods too could be put in group:torch)

You just placed the mese blocks in the water in the middle instead of two ones on both corners of each of the 4 water holes, and I think you put them 1 m too high, I need to add more screenshots…

Can i use this mod for the Aeri biome? Similar but with a variety of cool mobs. Also, is it possible to edit The Nether's Portal so it's built out of mese and instead of teleporting you down, it will teleport you to the elevation of nyanland in the code? Because i don't know if putting the teleportation coordinates would put you in the ground or would i add 1 to the normal elevation.

l don't know the Aeri biome.
l assume it's possible to edit a nether portal this way, the nyanland biome's upper ground is 1 node thick, perlin noise is used to vary the ground height, often there's no ground but air, so there are more awkward problems than sticking in the ground.
Currently you're just teleported above that ground but code could be changed to ensure that the map is generated and then scan the place for a decent target position.

I have embedded the nyancat dependency into this mod and reworked the portal build instructions above (see the first post in this forum topic; there are no ingame instructions), so the mod should be easier to install and use now.
The new release is at codeberg and should (I hope) appear at the Minetest content database soon, probably tomorrow.
